Bored monkeys, pixelated people in mohicans and cute kittens: this is what the new metaverse of what is probably the most expensive members’ club in the world could soon look like.
The company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), yuga labsreleased the trailer on March 19 for what appears to be a virtual world that brings together the eponymous bored monkeys along with a host of other popular NFT collections.
The short video shows not only a bored monkey, but also animated specimens from the collections. Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, CryptoPunks, CrypToadz, Meebits, Nouns and Woman’s World.
The project is named Other side (in German: Other Side) and should be available from April.
The BAYC bubble is inflating
It was only on March 17 that BAYC went live with an Ethereum token called ApeCoin (APE). This is “a culture, gaming, and commerce token designed to power a decentralized community at the forefront of Web 3.0,” the new token’s official Twitter account wrote. The Member Club Coin is not Yuga Labs, but ApeCoin DAO. The token is intended to give BAYC members certain preferential rights.
While APE shot up almost vertically after the issue, the initial hype has since leveled off a bit. The token is currently trading at $10.53, a 4.1 percent correction on a daily basis.
At the same time as the ApeCoin announcement, game developers and venture capitalists got in touch. Animoca Brands to the word The company explained on Twitter that it would also integrate ApeCoin into a “secret project” that the investment company is working on together with BAYC. However, Animoca Brands is better known for its participation in the NFT and Metaverse sectors and has participated in such well-known projects as The Sandbox or OpenSea.
In the meantime aware the Hong Kong-based company also posted the above trailer on Twitter. So, putting two and one together, it’s safe to assume that the new BAYC Metaverse project will be backed by Animoca Brands. Furthermore, the newborn ApeCoin (APE) could act as a native token of the virtual world.
Is it art or can it disappear?
While hype is part of the process by which new industry sectors are formed, you still need to think carefully about what the core value of a project is.
Ultimately, the hype can also subside. Stars like Eminem, Justin Bieber or Heidi Klum are part of one or another virtual club. The phenomenon of classic real-world celebrity hotspots, which change every few weeks, can possibly be transferred to the virtual members’ clubs here as well.
So it’s more complicated than the funny pictures of monkeys suggest. Whereas in movies you usually just have to log in on a keyword to get access to exclusive clubs, in this case the ticket “only” costs a small JPEG, but with an even higher price of at least 99.99 ETH currently (about $291,000). Americans).
